Off To A Great Start!

Wow!  What  start to the year and what a joy it has been!  I can’t believe 10 weeks has flown by so quickly.  I count my blessings every day I get to spend with the students and faculty here at White Oak Primary and Intermediate Schools.  I have gotten to know most of the students and they brighten my day on a daily basis.  The administration, faculty, parents, students and the community as a whole have made me feel welcome and like a part of the family from the day I began my adventure here.  I would like to thank everyone for such a smooth transition and for making me feel at home.  I look forward to the many experiences that are to come this year with the students and staff of White Oak Primary and Intermediate.

With that being said, please ensure you help your children in these experiences by having them at school whenever possible and on time in the mornings.  When students are late, it interrupts the learning of others when they come in and also does not get their day started off in the best possible way.  We all understand that there are reasons for students to miss school due to sickness or other unforeseen circumstances, but unless they are running a fever, contagious or unable to control their bodily functions, they still need to be in the learning environment as much as possible.  Also, please talk to your children about washing their hands and not sharing drinks, etc., in order to ward off as much sickness as possible.

I would also like to thank each parent for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life on a daily basis.  Each child is special and I am so very happy to get to be a part of a village that is planting the seeds and preparing them to grow to be successful in their educational endeavors.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can ever be of assistance in the education of your child.

Sincerely,

Marcus Camp

My name is Marcus Camp and I am very happy to have joined the White Oak ISD family as the Assistant Principal on both the Primary and Intermediate campuses and look forward to assisting in the education of the children and future of White Oak.  I am coming to White Oak from New Diana ISD where I spent the last 16 years of my 21 year career teaching math as well as coaching, serving as the assistant athletic director, interim athletic director, assistant head football, head powerlifting, head track and head tennis coach.  Prior to New Diana I taught and coached at Gladewater Middle School after teaching 5th grade at East Lincoln Elementary in Tullahoma, TN for one year to begin my career.

My education began in Daingerfield where I attended from K-12, graduating in 1989 as a proud Tiger.  I completed my undergraduate studies at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce, in 1995 where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and received my teaching certificate.  I furthered my education by earning my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at The University of Texas at Tyler in the summer of 2016.

I am blessed to not only be part of a great school family, but a personal one as well.  My wife Kellie is a 1st grade teacher at Hudson PEP Elementary in Longview.  Between us, we have 4 children with the oldest, her daughter, Kaytlin who is attending Kilgore college pursuing a career in education.  My son, Jarrett will be a junior at Longview High School in the International Baccalaureate program.  Kellie’s other daughter, Macie, will be a junior at New Diana High School and my daughter, Rylee (12) will be in the 7th grade in the GT Program at Foster Middle School in Longview.

I look forward to a wonderful year and thank you for the opportunity to help ensure the success of all students at White Oak Primary/Intermediate.

Marcus Camp
